Ridley AgriProducts (Ridley) Privacy Statement
Ridley is committed to the protection of any personal information it collects from its employees, customers, and shareholders or any other parties in the course of its business transactions.Ridley is aware of its obligations under the Privacy (Private Sector) Amendment Act and is committed to comply with the National Privacy Principles as set out below:
1.Collecting Personal Information
Ridley will only collect personal information that is necessary for its legitimate function or activation and where possible directly from the individual.Ridley will only collect this information by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive manner.
Either at the time of collection or as soon as practicable afterwards, Ridley will take reasonable steps to ensure that the individual is told:
- the identity of the organisation and how to contact it;
- that they can access the information;
- why the information is collected;
- the disclosure practices of the organisation; and
- any law that requires the particular information to be collected and the consequences (if any) for the individual if the information isn’t provided.
2. Using and Disclosing Personal Information
Ridley will only use or disclose personal information for the primary purpose of which it was collected or for a secondary purpose directly related to the first.Ridley may use or disclose for some secondary purpose related to the public interest such as law enforcement, public safety, record purposes or emergency situations.
3. Data Quality
Ridley will take all reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information it collects, uses and discloses is accurate, complete and up-to-date.4. Data Security
Ridley will take all reasonable steps to protect any information it has collected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure and will destroy or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.5. Openness
Ridley has written policies on managing personal information and will make copies of the policies available to anyone who requests a copy.Ridley will also on request take reasonable steps to disclose to individuals the sort of personal information it holds, the purpose for which the information is held and how the information is collected, stored and disclosed.
6. Accessing and Correcting Personal Information
Ridley will provide customers, employees and other people it deals with the ability to access any personal information it holds on them at their request and have it corrected if it is wrong. Ridley will apply some exceptions to this right as are allowed under the Privacy Act but Ridley will provide reasons where access is denied or it refuses to correct personal information. Ridley may choose to charge a reasonable fee for this service but no fee will apply to lodging a request for access.7. Identifiers
Ridley will not use an identifier (eg Medicare number) provided by a Commonwealth Government agency, as a customer identifier number nor will it disclose the identifier to another party.8. Anonymity
Ridley will allow individuals to not identify themselves, where it is lawful and practical, while carrying out transactions with Ridley9. Trans-border Data Flows
Ridley will not transfer personal information to some other party in a foreign country unless the conditions that allow them as set out in the Privacy Act Guidelines are met. Generally such conditions would be:- similar privacy laws are in place in that country;
- an individual agreeing to the transfer;
- if the information is necessary to perform a transaction between the company and the individual.
10. Sensitive Information
Ridley will not collect sensitive information unless:- the individual has consented;
- the collection is required by law;
- it is required to establish or defend a legal or equitable claim; or
- it is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to the life or health of any individual where the data subject is either physically or legally incapable of consenting or physically cannot communicate consent.
Ridley may collect health information in limited circumstances.
