The Benefits of Using Barastoc Lead Up
Good nutritional management pre-calving and in early lactation will maximise feed intake through improved health and appetite, leading to STRONGER, HEALTHIER and more PRODUCTIVE cows.
The main benefits of lead feeding are:
· Higher and earlier peak milk production resulting in greater milk production over the whole lactation
· Reduced weight loss
· Improved conception rates
· Fewer metabolic disorders such as milk fever and ketosis
· Lower vet bills and fewer cow losses
· Less stress for farm operators over the calving period
· Less stress on cow at calving and therefore stronger calf
· Adaptation of rumen microbes to a grain based feed, therefore increasing feed utilisation post calving
BARASTOC Lead Up is in a pellet form that has the advantages of:
· No separation of ingredients
· No sorting by cows
· Each cow that eats Lead Up gets the desired amount of nutrients
· Good palatability – flavouring used to disguise the bitter anionic salts
· High quality protein sources such as Canola meal, Legumes
BARASTOC Lead Up should be introduced 14 to 21 days prior to calving and fed at the rate of 2 to 3 kg per cow per day. In combination with ad lib hay, unrestricted access to clean water and limited pasture.
