Cobalt Deficiency
Bacteria in the rumen use cobalt to synthsise vitamin B12 and if cobalt is limiting in the diet cattle show signs of vitamin B12 deficiency.
Typical symptoms include reduced appetite, ill thrift and general weakness, leading to reduced growth rates, reduced milk production, reduced fertility due to oestrous inhibition and reduced disease resistance.
