Company history

Ridley Corporation was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1987. At the time, the company's principal activities included the Diamond Salt operation and regional radio stations in Victoria.

Ridley Corporation began the first stage of its transformation into Australia's largest stockfeed and salt company via the acquisition of Barastoc Stockfeeds in 1990 and then the Cheetham Salt and Cheetham Rural businesses in 1992.

Over the next decade, Ridley Corporation completed more acquisitions to expand its stockfeed operations in Australia. Likewise, its salt operations were expanded to include interests in New Zealand and Indonesia.

In 1994, Ridley acquired Feed-Rite, a large stockfeed company based in western Canada. This business has since been significantly expanded via strategic acquisitions in USA and Canada to become one of the largest stockfeed manufacturers in North America.
